The Baton Rouge area has some of the highest levels of allergens in the United States. I am confident that this is not a hard fact to believe, since almost every person that I know suffers from some degree of seasonal allergies. In fact, as I am looking at the 5-day Allergy Forecast, it looks like the weekend will be ripe with allergens in the air.
Fleauxt offers a natural alternative to help relieve the symptoms of allergies and sinus issues called Halotherapy or more commonly known as Dry Salt Therapy. This natural approach is new to us in the United States, but has actually been used effectively for hundreds of years in Eastern Europe. It wasn’t until last July that I truly appreciated the power of this holistic approach.
A holistic approach to respiratory care.
A study was conducted in 2014 with the intent of measuring the therapeutic effects of dry salt therapy as a treatment to different respiratory conditions. In this study, the researches exposed a group of people to ongoing dry salt therapy to determine if it is truly a viable treatment option. Some of the conditions being studied included seasonal allergies, sinuses, chronic bronchitis, and COPD. The researchers found:
In the first 3 - 7 days of treatment, many patients started coughing slightly more than normal,
During the 5 - 10th days of treatment, the coughing passed and patients with allergies and sinus issues started to experience significant relief from their symptoms,
During the 12 - 15th days of treatment, most patients suffering from bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and COPD stopped having dry coughing spells wheezing.
Almost half of patients in the study were able to cease or reduce their need for specific medications.
My dad is a great example of this powerful holistic approach and the reason I became a believer in dry salt therapy. He has been a smoker for longer than I've been alive, actually a lot longer, as he has been smoking for almost 60 years. When I went to visit him last summer, it was obvious that he was constantly out of breath and was struggling to get enough oxygen. I convinced him to go to a local holistic wellness center that offered dry salt therapy. It was amazing to hear how, after his first session, he felt like he was able to breathe for the first time in years. His sinuses were clear and he was able to sleep better too. We later discussed his first dry salt session and he explained how he, “had more energy than he knew what to do with”. Unfortunately, dry salt therapy cannot reverse decades of smoking damage, but it is helping my dad manage some of the symptoms.
Dry salt therapy helps with a wide variety of respiratory issues ranging from allergies, sinus problems, and more. If you would like to try a session, find us on-line at Fleauxt.com or call us at 225.283.0520.
